It’s Not the Software. It’s the Partner.

If you are unhappy with your Microsoft Dynamics implementation — whether it has overrun on time and budget, stalled before go-live, or gone live but never delivered the business value you were promised — the cause is rarely the software itself. Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Business Central are world-class platforms running tens of thousands of businesses globally. When a project fails, it almost always comes back to one thing: the partner.

The good news is that if you’ve bought a Microsoft product, you are entitled to switch partner whenever you choose. You don’t have to start the project again, you don’t have to write off your investment, and you don’t have to keep paying for a service that isn’t delivering. Finsys Apps specialises in stepping in, diagnosing what has gone wrong, fixing it, and getting your system delivering the value it should have done from day one.

A specialist service for failing Dynamics projects

Signs your Dynamics partner isn't working outProject recovery is fundamentally different from standard implementation work. It demands a partner who can quickly read a half-built system, understand the decisions — good and bad — that previous consultants have made, separate what is salvageable from what needs to be replaced, and produce a credible plan to get you to go-live without starting again from scratch. It also demands honesty: we will tell you what we think can be saved, what cannot, and what it will realistically cost to put right.

Finsys Apps’s project recovery service is led personally by Matt Cooke and delivered by senior Microsoft-certified consultants who have spent their careers working with Dynamics 365 and Business Central. We don’t put junior staff in front of broken projects. The clients we step in to help typically come to us frustrated, behind schedule, over budget, and concerned about throwing good money after bad. Our role is to take that pressure off and replace it with a clear, fixed-price path forward.

Free Project Assessment

An honest, no-obligation review of where your project stands and what it will take to put it right.

Fixed-Price Recovery Plan

A clear, milestone-based path back to go-live with no open-ended day-rate billing.

Simple Partner Switch

Microsoft lets you change Dynamics partner at any time — we handle the entire process for you.

The Frustrations We Hear Most Often

Almost every project recovery conversation we have starts with the same handful of complaints. These are the patterns that, in our experience, signal a partner relationship that is no longer serving the client — and each one has a practical solution.

  • “We don’t feel we’re getting the support we’re paying for.” We deliver fixed-scope, milestone-based work with clear deliverables — you know exactly what you’re paying for and what you’ll receive.
  • “Our staff have given up on Dynamics and gone back to spreadsheets.” We focus on the usability and process changes that get users back into the system — simpler screens, cleaner workflows, and proper training.
  • “Our partner doesn’t understand how we actually work.” Our consultants come from finance, operations, and supply chain backgrounds. We learn your processes and configure Dynamics to fit them, not the other way around.
  • “The customisations we asked for don’t work properly.” We diagnose underlying configuration and code issues, document them honestly, and rebuild what needs rebuilding to a supportable standard.
  • “We wait weeks for answers to urgent problems.” Our standard SLA is response within hours, not days — and senior consultants are accessible directly, not through a ticketing wall.
  • “We’re paying extortionate day rates with little to show for it.” Our daily rates are typically below what large consultancies quote, and we deliver in fewer days — with options including time-and-materials, fixed price, or pre-paid resource buckets.

Our Project Recovery Methodology

Project recovery - putting the pieces back togetherRecovering a Dynamics project that has gone off the rails is a structured exercise, not a rescue mission. The work is methodical: understand what has been built, understand what was supposed to be built, identify the gap, and produce a defensible plan to close it. We have refined this methodology across dozens of recovery engagements and it follows the same four stages every time.

Crucially, we do not begin recovery work without the assessment stage being complete. Diving into fixes without first understanding the full picture is what got the project into trouble in the first place. Our methodology is designed to give you and your stakeholders confidence in the plan before any further investment is committed.

Stage 1: Assessment

  • Full technical review of the existing Dynamics environment, configuration, and customisations
  • Documentation review — original scope, design documents, and any change requests
  • Workshops with key business stakeholders to understand the gap between expected and actual outcomes
  • Honest, written assessment report: what works, what doesn’t, what’s salvageable, what isn’t

Stage 2: Recovery Plan

  • Fixed-price, milestone-based recovery plan with clear deliverables and timeline
  • Prioritised list of fixes — what gets done in what order and why
  • Clear identification of any unrecoverable work that needs rebuilding rather than patching
  • Sign-off with your project sponsors before any work begins

Stage 3: Delivery

  • Senior Microsoft-certified consultants on the work from day one — no junior staff on broken projects
  • Weekly milestone reviews with you and your stakeholders — visibility of progress at every step
  • User testing, training, and adoption support built into every recovery engagement
  • Documented configuration, customisations, and integrations to a supportable standard

Stage 4: Stabilisation & Ongoing Support

  • Hypercare period post-go-live with rapid response on any emerging issues
  • Transition into our standard Dynamics 365 Support service when the project is stable
  • Roadmap of further improvements you can plan for over the following 6–12 months
  • Optional 24/7 support cover as standard for clients who need it

Switching Partner is Simpler Than You Think

A fresh partnership with Finsys AppsBy choosing a Microsoft product, you are entitled to switch Dynamics partner whenever you like — there is no licence renegotiation, no requirement to migrate data to a new tenant, and no need to inform your existing partner before you decide. The Microsoft Partner of Record change is a simple administrative process that we handle on your behalf.

Your Dynamics environment stays exactly where it is. Your data, your users, your customisations, and your licences all remain in place. The only thing that changes is who you work with on configuration, support, and ongoing development. For most clients, the entire switch is completed within a couple of weeks, and we will have completed our initial assessment and presented a fixed-price recovery plan inside the same window.

  • No need to migrate or re-implement — your Dynamics environment stays in place
  • Your licences, data, customisations, and users are completely unaffected
  • Microsoft Partner of Record change is a simple form — we handle the entire process
  • No contractual notice period required with your existing partner in most cases
  • Full project assessment and fixed-price recovery proposal typically within two weeks

The Dynamics Products We Recover

We work with the full Microsoft Dynamics 365 family. If you are running — or trying to run — any of the following and your project is in difficulty, we can help. Equally, if you are unsure which product is the right fit and your current partner has not been clear, our assessment will identify whether the right answer is to fix what you have or to switch to a more appropriate platform.

  • Dynamics 365 Business Central — failed or stalled implementations, performance issues, customisation problems, or simply a system that was never properly tuned to the way your finance team works
  • Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations — complex enterprise implementations that have overrun, gone live without delivering value, or never quite reached go-live at all
  • Dynamics 365 Sales, Marketing & Customer Service — CRM rollouts where adoption has stalled, integrations don’t work, or the configuration doesn’t reflect how your teams actually sell or serve
  • Dynamics 365 Field Service, Supply Chain & Project Operations — operational modules where the original implementation missed critical business processes or integrations
  • Legacy Dynamics platforms — Dynamics AX, NAV, and CRM environments needing either support or a structured migration path to Dynamics 365

Why Businesses Choose Finsys Apps for Project Recovery

Project recovery is not the same as new implementation work. It demands a partner that can quickly understand decisions made by other consultants, separate signal from noise, and tell you straight what is going to work and what isn’t. It also demands a level of seniority and judgement that you simply cannot get from a junior consultant working through a checklist.

Finsys Apps was founded on the principle that businesses deserve better implementations, better support, and better outcomes than the industry typically delivers. Our entire team is built around that — senior Microsoft-certified consultants, finance and operations professionals with real industry backgrounds, and a leadership team that personally signs off every recovery engagement.

  • Specialist recovery methodology refined across dozens of stalled and failed Dynamics projects
  • Senior Microsoft-certified consultants only — never junior staff on broken work
  • Full Dynamics 365 suite expertise — Business Central, Finance & Operations, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Field Service
  • Fixed-price recovery plans with clear milestones — no open-ended day-rate billing
  • Honest, written assessment before any recovery work begins
  • Direct access to senior consultants and to Matt Cooke personally
  • Smooth transition into 24/7 support once your project is stable

“Most of the recovery work we do is preventable. A good partner relationship doesn’t end up in recovery in the first place — and that is what we set out to deliver to every client, on day one and every day after.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Because Microsoft Dynamics is a Microsoft product, you have the right to change your Microsoft Partner of Record at any time, regardless of where you are in your project. Your licences, your data, and your environment stay exactly where they are — the only thing that changes is who you work with. You do not need permission from your existing partner, and in most cases there is no contractual notice period that prevents the change. Finsys Apps handles the Partner of Record paperwork on your behalf and the change typically takes a couple of weeks to complete administratively.
The free assessment is exactly what it says — an honest, no-obligation review of where your Dynamics project stands. We will speak to you and to a small number of your key stakeholders, review the existing environment and any project documentation, and then produce a written summary of what is working, what is not, and what we believe it will take to put right. We commit to delivering the assessment within two weeks of engagement. There is no charge and no obligation to proceed with any further work afterwards.
We deliver recovery engagements on a fixed-price, milestone-based basis — you know the cost up front. The actual figure depends entirely on the scope: a Business Central implementation needing configuration and process fixes will cost meaningfully less than a stalled enterprise Finance & Operations rollout. What we can promise is that our daily rates are typically below those quoted by large consultancies, that we deliver work in fewer days, and that you will never receive an open-ended day-rate invoice for an unbounded amount of work.
In almost all cases, no. Your Dynamics environment stays exactly where it is. We work within your existing tenant, with your existing licences, your existing data, and your existing customisations. We will of course identify any customisations or configurations that we consider unsupportable or actively harmful to the project — and we will recommend rebuilding those specific components — but the system as a whole stays in place. A full re-implementation is rare and only ever recommended when it is genuinely the best path forward.
The first step is a confidential, no-pressure conversation. Get in touch via our contact form or directly with Matt Cooke and we will arrange an initial call with a senior consultant. If it looks like we can help, we will scope and deliver the free written project assessment within two weeks. After that, you have a clear, written view of your options and can decide what you want to do next — with no commitment to engage Finsys Apps for the recovery work itself.
